August 8, 1930 – this is the first time an administrative territorial unit was established in Gakh region. Although it joined Zagatala in 1963, the status of the administrative district of Gakh was revived one year later. Today, no events, celebrations or ceremonies on the 89th anniversary have been held in the Gakh region.
On August 8, well-known human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov made a video address on this historic day, spoke about the creation of the Gakh region, its nature, geographical relief and rich natural resources. He reiterated that Gakh’s greatest wealth is its people.
Speaking about valuable intellectuals, scholars, athletes, art and public figures, Ahmad Shahidov expressed his confidence that the 90th anniversary of the establishment of Gakh region would be officially celebrated next year.
