The head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov has sent a video appeal to international organizations and heads of foreign states and governments.
Stating that Azerbaijani hostages Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev have been illegally held hostage by Armenians for six years, the human rights defender called on international organizations to help in this matter and increase pressure on official Yerevan: “The lives of two Azerbaijanis, Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who have been illegally held hostage by Armenians for six years, are in danger. They can die.
As a human rights activist, I appeal to you to help us in this matter. Put pressure on the Armenian government, negotiate with official Yerevan and persuade them to exchange captives and hostages during this pandemic.
This is the last chance for all of us. It is the last chance for humanity. It is the last chance for all mankind, beleive me.
It may be the last chance for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. If we can exchange the captives and hostages, we can achieve a constructive dialogue between the parties to the conflict in the future.” – said human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov.
