The reception which held at Fairmont Hotel Baku is attended by Head of AIDHR
The Embassy of Qatar hosted an official reception on the occasion of its country’s national holiday on December 18. Making an opening remarks Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al-Shahab, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar, highlighted the country’s development over the past years. He hailed Qatar’s experience of significant changes in political, economic and cultural spheres.
The Ambassador praised the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar. Providing an insight into the friendly relations of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Qatari Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, he said that these relations contribute to further development of friendship between the two countries. The diplomat expressed confidence that relationship in economic, cultural, educational and other fields will develop further.
During the reception Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) had a short conversation with Charge d’Affaires Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Shahab. Mr. Shahidov briefly talked about the organization headed by him and pointed it out that close cooperation built with Qatar. Head of AIDHR also recalled the memorandum of mutual understanding to be inked in the next few days between AIDHR and National Human Rights Committee of Qatar.
The reception brought together public and government officials, parliamentarians, ambassadors, journalists and public figures.
