Freedom of peaceful Assembly in Azerbaijan to be discussed at OSCE meeting

odihr1-292x292Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov will raise the state of freedom of peaceful assembly in Azerbaijan during OSCE meeting in Vienne
OSCE’s Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on Freedoms of Peaceful Assembly and Association with Emphasis on Freedom of Association will kick off in Vienna, Austria on 16April 2015. Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR)is expected to make reporting speech at the gathering.
The meeting to be organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will focus on freedom of peaceful assembly in OSCE participating countries and hearings on different countries will be conducted as well.
In his interview to “YeniMusavat” newspaper Ahmad Shahidov, Head of AIDHR underscored that during the meeting he would raise the state of human rights, specifically freedom of peaceful assembly in Azerbaijan. The statement reads; “I will make a speech on state of freedom of peaceful assembly in Azerbaijan at the OSCE’s meeting.Recently we observe positive tendencies on this matter though from now on we come across some challenges. In my speech I will also put an emphasis on opposition’s last protest” he concluded.
