7th Global Baku Forum: is the co-existence possible in Nagorno-Karabakh?

shahidov_bmtThe 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) on the theme “Living Together in Inclusive Societies: A Challenge and A Goal” have been ended on April 27. At the panel discussion which joined by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the conductor opened question and answers sessions. Taking a floor Ahmad Shahidov, Head of Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) addressed his question to the panelists. The question he addressed was about feasibility of the coexistence of Azerbaijani and Armenian communities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In his statement Ahmad Shahidov noted that Azerbaijan has ample experience on co-existence and as a manifestation of this we can mention 30 thousand Armenians who reside in Azerbaijan. In contrast, about 99 percent of the total Armenian population is ethnic Armenians. He further went on to ask possibility of the two communities in Nagorno-Karabakh. It was former minister Egemen Bakhish of Turkey and representative of Spain who answered the question. The exchange of thoughts was met by audience with applause.
