Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, who is on a working visit to Europe, met with Ombudsman of Albania Mrs. Erinda Ballanca in Tirana on February 2. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on fundamental freedoms, freedom of religion, ethnic minorities’ rights and other issues in Albania.
Ombudsman of Albania Mrs. Erinda Ballanca gave detailed information on the current state of human rights in Albania, said that people of different religions live in peace and fraternity, and that the government creates equal opportunities for all religions in Albania. Mrs. Erinda Ballanca pointed out that interfaith dialogue is at a high level in Albania and called Albania the Balkan region’s multiculturalism center.
Prospects of mutual cooperation were also discussed during the meeting, which was held within the framework of beneficial and fruitful discussions.
