Ahmad Shahidov spoke at OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights on presidential elections in Azerbaijan

Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, who is on a working visit to Europe, visited the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw, Poland. Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov met with Mr. Alexander Shlyk, Head of the OSCE ODIHR Election Department, Mr. Omer Fisher, Head of the OSCE ODIHR Human Rights Department and Mr. Radivoje Gruzhic, OSCE ODIHR election adviser, informed them about the presidential elections in Azerbaijan to be held on April 11, described the pre-election situation and spoke about the importance of the OSCE ODIHR election observation mission in Azerbaijan.

Expressing their satisfaction with Ahmad Shahidov’s visit to the OSCE ODIHR headquarters, Mr. Alexander Shlyuk, Head of the OSCE ODIHR Election Department, said that there is a great interest in the presidential elections in Azerbaijan and gave detailed information about the activities of the OSCE ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Azerbaijan. OSCE ODIHR officials said that they will publish reports that will fully characterize the pre-election situation, the voting process on election day and post-election situation in Azerbaijan and voiced hope that the 11 April elections will be free and transparent.

The head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Poland Mr. Javid Zeynalov also attended the meeting.
