On the occasion of the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis on March 31, 1918, activists of the Union of Azerbaijanis in Poland held a protest action in front of the Armenian Embassy in Warsaw. Protesters holding Azerbaijani flags in their hands condemned the ethnic cleansing and genocide committed against Azerbaijanis in 1918 and raised the voice of Azerbaijani and Muslim citizens murdered by the tyrants of the Bolshevik-Dashnakstsyun in Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan.
During the speeches in Azerbaijani and English languages, the events of March 31, 1918 were reported as a genocide act, and the history of the massacres committed by Stepan Shaumyan’s Bolshevik-Dashnakstsyun powers was delivered.
The protestors said that although 100 years have passed since the 1918 incidents, Azerbaijani youths still remember those days and appealed to compatriots living in other European countries to unite their powers on national issues and to defend the right voice of Azerbaijan.
Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, described the massacres of 1918 as a genocide committed against all humanity and urged the international community, especially the Western world, to increase the international pressure on the Armenian government and authorities to avoid further incidents. Today’s Armenian state, as a legal and political successor of the then Dashnaks unions, is responsible for the genocide of 1918, and the armenian nationalism did not change and still occupies 20% of Azerbaijani lands and kills innocent people today, said the human rights defender.
At the end of the protest action young people sang the State Hymn of Azerbaijan. “Justice for Khojaly”, “Freedom to Karabakh”, “No Terror” and other slogans were sounded during an hour-long protest.
