“Monument to Khojaly genocide should be erected in Gakh district” – Ahmad Shahidov made an important proposal

Originally from the town of Gakh, well-known human rights defender, won the sympathy of the people of Gakh during the elections to the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ahmad Shahidov visited Gakh yesterday. On the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, Ahmad Shahidov visited the Alley of Martyrs in Gakh, commemorated the martyrs’ dearest memory, read prayers to their souls and put flowers on their graves.

Later, Ahmad Shahidov, in his video appeal, regretted that there is no monument to victims of the Khojaly genocide in Gakh and addressed to the Gakh district administration. Remembering the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” initiated by First Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva, Ahmad Shahidov noted that different events, rallies, conferences and meetings were held around the world and monuments to the memory of Khojaly victims were erected in different cities of the world.

Ahmad Shahidov expressed hope that the Gakh region will not be out of this policy, adding that he believes the next anniversary of the Khojaly genocide there will be a magnificent monument to the memory of the genocide victims in Gakh’s most prominent place.
