An event entitled “Increasing the role of youth in the fight against religious radicalism and extremism” was held on April 27 at the Lankaran City Cultural Center, organized by the “Reformist Youth” Public Union and supported by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations.
The event was attended by employees of the Lankaran City Executive Power, the Lankaran region department of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Lankaran youth and the public.
Opening the event, Mr. Farid Shahbazli, head of the Reformist Youth Public Union, spoke about the urgency of the issue and state-religion relations. Then Emin Hamidov, an employee of the Lankaran region department of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Hajibey Heydarli, editor-in-chief of the AzXeber Portal, an official of the Lankaran City Executive Power and others spoke.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, described religious radicalism and extremism as a global threat and spoke about the preventive measures taken by Azerbaijan to prevent this threat, as well as the factors that young people should take into account.
