Azerbaijani agenda in BenguTurk TV – Ersin Tatar is coming to Baku, Lachin is under Azerbaijani control

A new phase is clearly seen in Azerbaijan’s policy towards the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. While Karabakh was under occupation, hesitations about the recognition of the independence of Northern Cyprus are long gone. A while ago, the delegation of the Azerbaijani parliament visited Lefkosha and held diplomatic talks with Turkish Cypriot officials, announcing the start of a new phase.

Most likely, Azerbaijan will be the second country after Turkiye to recognize the TRNC. In this respect, Ersin Tatar’s visit to Baku can be unforgettable. It should be noted that the founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Rauf Denktaş, was the guest of the late President Heydar Aliyev in Baku. Tatar’s visit will be the second such visit.

Both the Russian troops and the Armenian population are leaving the route known as the “Lachin corridor”, which was temporarily given to Russian soldiers in accordance with the tripartite declaration signed on November 10, 2020 between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia after the 2nd Karabakh War.

According to the 10 November 2020 statement, Azerbaijan was going to build a new road passing outside the city of Lachin, which the Armenian population in Karabakh would use on their way to and from Armenia within 3 years. Azerbaijan completed this 32-kilometer road earlier than planned. Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will use the new road to travel to and from Armenia. Russian troops providing security on the route of the old Lachin corridor are also moving the checkpoints to the new road.

Evaluating the Azerbaijani agenda on BenguTurk channel, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov answered the questions of the journalist Dilara Ozer.
