During the event, State Department Spokesperson Ms. Tammy Bruce responded to questions from journalists. Among the attendees was journalist and human rights advocate Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, who asked a question about regional cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov noted that last week Syria\u2019s transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaan visited Azerbaijan and met with President Ilham Aliyev. During the visit, a number of agreements were signed, covering post-war reconstruction, energy cooperation, and the potential export of Azerbaijani natural gas to Syria.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mdcvayFLFO4?si=L9suMorqVEPd7Y9G\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shahidov\u2019s question came in the context of the recent decision by the United States to temporarily ease some sanctions on Syria. He pointed out that Iranian media strongly criticized this cooperation, viewing it as a threat to Tehran\u2019s regional interests. In this context, he asked how Washington views the growing Azerbaijan-Syria cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>In response, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that the United States firmly supports post-war reconstruction and humanitarian efforts in Syria. According to her, the U.S. administration has deliberately eased certain sanctions to enable the delivery of international humanitarian aid and the initiation of reconstruction efforts. The purpose of this decision, she emphasized, is to improve the living conditions of ordinary Syrians and contribute to the country\u2019s stabilization.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce added that the U.S. is closely monitoring regional cooperation with Syria\u2019s new leadership, especially initiatives in the fields of energy and infrastructure, and considers such efforts important for promoting peace, stability, and economic development in the region. She stressed that Washington welcomes constructive steps taken by countries in this framework.<\/p>\n<p><a
