The third OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting (SHDM) on the topic of National Minorities, Bridge Building and Integration has concluded its work in Vienna, Austria on 11 November 2016. Representatives of OSCE participating States, OSCE institutions, and OSCE executive structures, representatives of inter-governmental organizations, legal professionals, representatives of civil society and researchers from 57 participating States discussed the rights of ethnic minorities and their integration into society in OSCE geography.
Participating in the discussion on the topic of “Promoting the bridge building role of national minority issues across various policy areas”, Head of Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Dr. Ahmad Shahidov spoke about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and strongly criticised the Armenian authorities. Talking about how Sargsyan’s regime is feeding its people with the false propaganda for years, Ahmad Shahidov mentioned that the wrong impression formed in ordinary armenians about Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis. Spreading lies about how “Azerbaijan is the dangerous country for the armenians”, the Armenian government is deceiving its people and the European institutions as well.
Head of AIDHR stressed that 30 thousands armenians live in Azerbaijan nowadays and armenians could freely come to Azerbaijan. Ahmad Shahidov informed the participants that the armenian civil society activists – Vahe Avetyan, Susan Caginyan and Vahan Martirosyan visited Baku last week. Armenian human rights activist Vahe Avetyan freely walked throughout the Baku city, visited the armenian church in the city center, was the guest of armenian families living in Sumgait city, as well as visited the state archives and met with the books, magazines and newspapers that are published in armenian language. Head of AIDHR also said that armenian ambassador in OSCE lies and spreads false information.
Referring to Facebook page of armenian civil society activist Vahe Avetyan, Head of AIDHR informed European diplomats that ordinary armenians and armenian values are respected in Azerbaijan.
