Attacks on Azerbaijani positions will also negatively affect Turkiye-Armenia relations – BBNTürk

Tensions continue on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and in the Karabakh region. The situation in the region remains tense after the counter-terrorism operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army last week.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announced that in the last 24 hours, Armenian armed units opened fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani army 10 times.

In the statement made by the ministry, it was stated that the positions on the border in the direction of Kalbajar and Lachin provinces were under fire 6 times from Armenian positions in Basargecher, Karakilise and Gorus provinces.

In the statement, it was reported that illegal Armenian armed groups located in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, fired 4 times with sniper weapons and different caliber weapons at intervals to the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of Kalbajar, Goranboy and Fuzuli provinces.

Emphasizing that there was no loss of personnel and equipment in the Azerbaijani army, it was stated that retaliation was made against the opened fire.

In the statement, it was noted that the entire responsibility of the tension experienced both on the border and in the Azerbaijani territories, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, rests with the Armenian administration.

Speaking at the opening of the 13th Ambassadors Conference held in Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu emphasized that Turkiye supports the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani lands and said, “While the occupation barrier in front of peace in Karabakh was being destroyed, Turkiye stood by the truth, the just and the justice. We questioned the term frozen conflict. We reminded that melting ice means conflict at any moment. When the conflict started, we supported the heroic Azerbaijani army to liberate their occupied lands.”

Speaking to the BBNTürk channel on the subject, political analyst and human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov noted that Armenia’s actions that cause tension in the region and attacks on Azerbaijani positions will also negatively affect Turkiye-Armenia relations.
