Today, 34 years have passed since the military aggression committed by the former Soviet authorities against the Azerbaijani people and the unprecedented massacre targeting the civilian population, in violation of international law.

In order to suppress the national liberation movement in Azerbaijan by force, precisely on the night of January 19-20, 1990, as a result of military aggression against Azerbaijan by Soviet army units and special forces, as well as a contingent of internal troops, a massacre was committed against civilians, including children, women and the elderly, in the cities of Baku and Sumgait, Lankaran and Neftchala. As a result of the military aggression of the occupying forces, 150 civilians were killed, 744 people were seriously injured, and 4 people went missing.

Political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov spoke to Akit Television on the subject, said that this massacre, which took place 34 years ago, is the most important and honorable page in the history of Azerbaijan.
