On February 6, the international human rights conference, jointly organized by the Qatar National Human Rights Committee and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, started its work in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The international conference entitled “Food Justice From a Human Rights Perspective” was attended by human rights defenders, state and government officials, media representatives and officials of international organizations from all over the world.

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, a human rights defender who participated in the international conference, spoke at the panel discussions and said that during the conflicts in the world, the civilian population is targeted and the food security of ordinary citizens is used for military purposes.

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that armenian civilians were never targeted during the 44-day Second Karabakh War carried out by the Azerbaijani Army in 2020, and emphasized that a safe corridor was opened for armenian citizens who voluntarily left the region, and that food provision for those people was carried out by the Azerbaijani authorities.
