During the Winter Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in January 2024, the depriving of the right to vote of the Azerbaijani delegation strained relations between Baku and PACE. After that, German MP Frank Schwabe’s slanderous accusations against Azerbaijan brought relations to a peak.
Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, a human rights defender who made a statement on the subject to ARB24 Television, pointed out that there are biased forces against Azerbaijan within the PACE, and said that those forces received strict instructions from France and Germany.
