Ahmad Shahidov spoke about national minorities and Armenian identity in Azerbaijan at the OSCE Warsaw Meeting


On September 30, the OSCE Human Dimension Conference began in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Human rights, fundamental freedoms and conflicts in the OSCE region were discussed at the annual meeting attended by ambassadors, diplomats and official representatives of 57 countries.

Discussions held on October 9 were held on the topic “Tolerance and non-discrimination: the rights of national minorities”. The head of the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, who closely participated in the discussions, spoke about the rights of national minorities living in Azerbaijan.

Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov pointed out that thousands of representatives of Georgian, Sakhur, Lezgi, Avar, Tat and other peoples live equally in Gakh district of Azerbaijan, where he was born, and responded to the speech of Ms. Lilit Grigoryan, deputy representative of Armenia in the OSCE, and said that 40,000 armenians live in Azerbaijan and they are an integral part of the Azerbaijani society.
