A forum titled “Digital Security and Borders” was held in Ganja with the financial support of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations and organized by the “For the Future” Public Union.
Before the event, participants visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers in his honor.
In the opening session, project manager Tural Isagov spoke about the purpose of the event and the relevance of digital security for youth and society, while project expert Khayala Reis emphasized the importance of digital awareness among young people.
Among the speakers were Member of Parliament Parvin Karimzade, head of the YAP Ganja City Organization Bayram Aslanov, CEO of “X-Link” company Ahmad Zulfuqarov, and human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov.
The forum, moderated by well-known journalist Firangiz Jalilova, brought together local officials, municipal representatives, youth organizations, NGO leaders, academics, and more than 200 young participants.
During the event, participants discussed the main challenges of digital security, cyber threats, ethical behavior on social media, and the importance of improving digital literacy.
Ahmad Shahidov’s speech attracted wide attention. He underlined that information security and media propaganda are directly linked to national security in today’s interconnected world. Shahidov highlighted Azerbaijan’s representation in the international information space, cooperation with Western institutions, and the importance of building a credible image in global media.
He also recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s interviews with international media during the 44-day Patriotic War, noting that these communications played a decisive role in Azerbaijan’s victory in the information war.
Sharing his own experience, Shahidov said that speeches at international organizations, interviews with Western media outlets, and diplomatic communication efforts have been key tools in presenting Azerbaijan’s just position to the world.
The forum was assessed as an important contribution to enhancing youth knowledge in information security and promoting a culture of responsible digital behavior in modern society.
