On May 27-28, 2025, within the framework of the international conference titled “artificial intelligence and human rights: opportunities, risks and a vision for a better future” held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, human rights defender and Head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, met with H E Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali, the Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov expressed his gratitude to the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar for organizing such a prestigious international event and emphasized the importance of discussing the challenges and opportunities brought by artificial intelligence technologies in the field of human rights on an international platform.
In their conversation, the parties discussed strengthening international cooperation in the field of human rights, establishing legal and ethical frameworks for the application of artificial intelligence, and the possibilities of implementing joint projects. Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali praised Dr. Ahmad Shahidov’s work on international platforms and highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov presented a special award on behalf of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights to Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali for his contributions to the protection of human rights at the international level. Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali expressed his gratitude for the recognition and expressed hope that their cooperation in the field of human rights would continue in the future.
