Ahmad Shahidov meets Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh in Washington DC

Human rights advocate and Head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, Ahmad Shahidov, currently visiting Washington, met with H.E. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the United States. The meeting focused on the historic friendship and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, which have developed over many years at the state and government level as well as between the two peoples, along with the future prospects of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The discussions also covered the current situation in South Asia, particularly recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as issues related to the sharing and utilization of the water resources of the Indus River. Ahmad Shahidov expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh for the warm reception and for taking the time to meet with him, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the friendship and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

Human rights advocate Ahmad Shahidov noted that throughout his activities on international platforms, particularly within the OSCE and the Council of Europe, he has consistently defended Azerbaijan’s national interests and legitimate rights, while also supporting the legitimate interests and just position of Pakistan, Azerbaijan’s brotherly country and strategic partner. He stated that he will continue his efforts within international organizations to amplify Pakistan’s legitimate voice and promote the further strengthening of Azerbaijan–Pakistan brotherly relations.
