Today – October 6, 2025, the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) officially opened in Warsaw, Poland.
Running from October 6 to 17, the conference gathers hundreds of diplomats, human rights defenders, civil society representatives, and journalists from around the world.
The agenda includes global issues such as human rights, conflict resolution, freedom of expression, and international security.
During the opening day, Azerbaijani human rights advocate Ahmad Shahidov made a brief stand-up statement, sharing his reflections on the importance of the meeting and his participation agenda.
He emphasized that the OSCE platform plays a crucial role in fostering dialogue between governments and civil society, as well as in advancing peace initiatives.
Ahmad Shahidov noted that this year he will focus on several key regional topics — the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace agreement mediated by the United States, the ongoing war in Ukraine and Russia’s aggression, the humanitarian crisis and ceasefire efforts in the Middle East, and India’s aggressive policies in South Asia, including its unilateral withdrawal from the Indus Water Treaty.
The Azerbaijani advocate underlined that conflicts in different parts of the world threaten human life, international law, and global stability.
According to him, such gatherings are essential for strengthening collective international efforts for peace, justice, and human rights.
In conclusion, Ahmad Shahidov stated that peace is not just an idea but also a responsibility, one that rests on the shoulders of every country and every individual.
