“Strategic partnership issues between Azerbaijan and Serbia discussed” – Meeting with the Vice President of the Serbian Parliament

Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov has met with the Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Vladimir Marinkovich

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, who is on a working trip in Europe, met with Vice President of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia professor Vladimir Marinkovich, in Belgrade on June 24. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of strategic cooperation between the two countries, exchanged views on further development of relations with Serbia’s civil society institutions.

Expressing his satisfaction with welcoming the human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov in the Serbian Parliament, professor Vladimir Marinkovich stressed the importance of developing relations in all spheres – sports, culture, education and science, along with political relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan. Mr. Vladimir Marinkovich, describing Azerbaijan as a friendly and fraternal country, said strategic relations exist between the two countries and emphasized the mutual support activities in the international arena. Touching upon the territorial integrity of the countries as an integral part of international law, the Vice President of the Serbian Parliament stated that both Azerbaijan and Serbia have shown a principled position on this issue and support each other in the issue of territorial integrity of the two countries.

Following the meeting, a short briefing was held for Serbian media representatives and journalists’ questions were answered.
