“Turkey must take part in peace talks” – Ahmad Shahidov gave an interview to Ulusal Channel Television

Armenian armed forces continue firing on Tartar region in gross violation of the humanitarian ceasefire.

At noon on October 19, Armenian armed forces fired on a cotton factory in Tartar. As a result, a large fire broke out in the factory.

Violating the ceasefire agreement reached for the second time, the Armenian side has once again shown that official Yerevan is not interested in achieving peace in the region.

In an interview to Ulusal Channel, the head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov said that in order to start peace talks between the parties, it is necessary to unequivocally accept Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and withdraw Armenian troops from occupied Azerbaijani lands.

Considering Turkey’s participation in the peace talks important, Ahmad Shahidov said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also has a clear position on this issue: “Turkey should also take part in the talks. This is one of the conditions set by Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan’s official position in this regard. This is a very important issue for us.”
