“The decision of the International Court of Justice regarding the Lachin corridor is a fiasco of Armenia” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 Television

The International Court of Justice rejected Armenia’s petition regarding the establishment of the Lachin border crossing point on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. On May 12, 2023, Armenia appealed to the court regarding the “illegality of the Lachin border crossing point”.

The next groundless claim raised by Armenia against Azerbaijan was rejected at the international level. The highest judicial body of the world – the International Court of Justice (ICJ) considered that the petition raised by Armenia regarding the creation of the Lachin border checkpoint on the border of Azerbaijan with Armenia has no basis.

Speaking to ARB24 Television about the issue, human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov assessed the decision of the International Court of Justice as a fair step: “Armenia’s demand for the removal of the Lachin border crossing point is groundless. Azerbaijan is the right party in this matter, and the international court also made a decision based on the right position of Azerbaijan.”
