Several former leaders of FETÖ in Azerbaijan were arrested as a result of the operation conducted in the territory of the country these days. A number of international organizations, as well as the embassies of the United States, Great Britain, France and Germany in Azerbaijan, posted on social networks and criticized these arrests at a time when investigative measures are being carried out on the arrested persons.
Such sharing should be considered as an attempt to directly interfere in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan. Those diplomats know very well that Azerbaijan is an independent country, such issues are regulated by independent judicial bodies in accordance with the law.
Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, a human rights defender who gave an interview on the issue to Khazar Television, said that the interference of Western countries in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs has happened before, and on the contrary, he stressed that those organizations and embassies remained silent on a number of issues in which Azerbaijan was right.
