As a result of the 24-hour anti-terror operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army in Karabakh, the separatist regime in Karabakh surrendered and accepted the terms put forward by Baku.
Today, Karabakh was completely cleared of armenian militants. As a result of anti-terrorist measures, Azerbaijan restored its sovereignty. On September 21, a meeting will be held between armenian representatives of Karabakh and official Baku in Yevlakh, Azerbaijan. The rights and obligations of Karabakh armenians will be discussed at the Yevlakh meeting.
An intense debate took place on the Egyptian channel Al Ghad on the subject. Azerbaijani human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov and armenian political commentator Tigran Aboyan exchanged views on the rights and obligations of armenians in Karabakh.
Human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov noted that the armenians in Karabakh will be reintegrated into the Azerbaijani society and will have all the rights and freedoms stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. However, expectations that armenians in Karabakh will have special privileges and status are unfounded. Because, like other citizens of Azerbaijan, armenians in Karabakh should understand their rights and freedoms as well as their responsibilities and respect the laws of Azerbaijan.
