Ahmad Shahidov spoke at the OSCE Vienna meeting about the illegal activities of the “Russian House” in Azerbaijan

On March 18, a two-day meeting titled “The Role of the Media in Conflicts and Humanitarian Crises” continued in Vienna, Austria, organized by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and the OSCE Finland Secretariat.

The meeting, attended by ambassadors, diplomats, and official representatives from 57 countries, discussed issues related to media freedom, the safety of journalists, and disinformation within the OSCE region.

In his speech, Ahmad Shahidov, the head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, spoke about the role of independent media in the fight against disinformation and the impact of investigative journalism.

As an example, Ahmad Shahidov mentioned the suspicious activities of the “Russian House”, which had existed for many years in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that it was specifically investigative journalism, particularly the report aired by Baku TV, that exposed the activities of the “Russian House”, leading to the swift revocation of its accreditation.
