The recent military and diplomatic tensions in South Asia have once again drawn international attention to the Kashmir issue. Clashes and mutual accusations along the border between Pakistan and India have raised serious concerns both in the region and globally. While the UN and leading powers call for restraint, the situation is increasingly moving in a dangerous direction. According to reports, there is a high likelihood that the Indian army may launch a military operation on Pakistani territory in the coming hours.
Given the urgency of the issue, today REAL Television’s “Səhər Agenti” (Morning Agent) program held an in-depth discussion on the matter. Political commentator Ahmad Shahidov, a guest of the program, shared his views on the history, current situation, and possible future scenarios regarding the Kashmir conflict.
In his remarks, Ahmad Shahidov stated that the Kashmir conflict is not only the most serious threat for South Asia but also a significant risk for global security. He recalled that this problem has led to three large-scale wars since 1947 and noted that the situation today has become even more critical. He particularly emphasized that India’s provision of modern weaponry to Armenia and its cooperation with destructive forces in the South Caucasus creates a dangerous imbalance in the region.
Ahmad Shahidov highlighted that Azerbaijan has always stood by Pakistan on this matter, supporting a resolution to the Kashmir issue based on international law and UN resolutions. He added that the brotherly and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Pakistan serves as an important political and military pillar for safeguarding both countries’ interests and ensuring regional peace.
At the end of his statement, the political commentator called on the international community, stressing that the Kashmir conflict can only be resolved through peace and dialogue. However, he warned that India’s current stance and the potential for a planned military operation could lead to a new humanitarian disaster in the region.
Azerbaijan, for its part, firmly supports Pakistan’s rightful position and unequivocally declares its solidarity with the brotherly nation.
