India’s policy will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Kashmir – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov speaks to Baku TV

In recent days, the escalating military and diplomatic tensions in South Asia have once again drawn international attention to the Kashmir issue. Clashes and mutual accusations along the border line between India and Pakistan have raised serious concerns in the region. Although the UN and influential states have called for restraint, the situation is gradually heading toward a more dangerous direction. According to available information, there is a high probability that the Indian army may launch a military operation against Pakistan in the coming hours.

Given the sensitivity of the issue, Baku TV extensively discussed the matter on air today. Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov, invited as a guest of the program, shared his views on the historical background, current situation, and possible future scenarios of the Kashmir conflict.

Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that the Kashmir conflict is not only a serious threat to South Asia but also a grave concern for global security. He stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has, in recent years, severely violated the fundamental human rights of the Muslim population in Kashmir, intensified military pressure in the region, and restricted local freedoms. The abolition of Kashmir’s special status, deployment of additional troops, and mass arrests under Modi’s government have further worsened the humanitarian situation.

The political commentator noted that India’s repressive policies and the potential military operation would not only increase the risk of war between the two states but also trigger a major humanitarian disaster for the Kashmiri population. Ahmad Shahidov also drew attention to India’s supply of modern weapons to Armenia and its cooperation with destructive forces in the South Caucasus, which creates a dangerous imbalance in the region.

Stressing that Azerbaijan has always stood by Pakistan on this issue, Ahmad Shahidov reiterated that Azerbaijan supports resolving the Kashmir problem based on international law and UN resolutions, through peace and dialogue. He added that the brotherhood and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Pakistan have become a crucial political and military pillar in defending the interests of both nations and ensuring regional stability.

Finally, the political analyst called on the international community to take a firm stance against Modi’s government’s human rights violations and possible military intervention plans, emphasizing that the fate of the civilian population in the region must remain a priority for the world community.

Azerbaijan, in turn, continues to firmly support Pakistan’s rightful position and the just struggle of the Kashmiri people, advocating for peace and stability in the region.
