On this matter, the head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, gave an interview to ARB24 Television. He commented on both the tense environment and Azerbaijan’s stance on the issue.
In his interview, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov first addressed the latest developments in Pakistan-India relations. He stated that the ongoing tension between the two countries is caused by India’s provocative policy in the region. According to the human rights defender, this crisis can be resolved either through diplomatic or military means. However, he stressed that for this to happen, international organizations and influential states must first demonstrate a fair and objective stance in the region.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s official position on the issue, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that the Azerbaijani state has always stood by its brotherly country Pakistan and continues to express its support openly today. He highlighted that they support Pakistan’s policy based on international law and regional stability, and that the historical and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are built on solid foundations.
Dr. Ahmad Shahidov also spoke about Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, stating that the two countries not only support each other diplomatically but also militarily, in humanitarian fields, and on international platforms. He noted that these relations play a significant role in ensuring the security and stability of the region.
Finally, the human rights defender added that the people of Azerbaijan consider the pain of the people of Pakistan as their own pain, and their joy as their own joy — and that this bond of brotherhood will never change.
