Middle East situation reaches critical point: international law violated, humanitarian crisis deepens — Ahmad Shahidov speaks to ARB24 Television

The situation in the Middle East has further escalated. Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip, Hamas’ retaliatory attacks, and the resulting severe humanitarian crisis remain at the forefront of international attention. Although negotiations on a ceasefire and the release of hostages have failed, international organizations continue their efforts to halt the process.

On this topic, political analyst Ahmad Shahidov gave a detailed statement today on ARB24 TV’s “Business morning” program.

Ahmad Shahidov stated that both Israel’s and Hamas’ military operations violate the principles of international humanitarian law. According to the expert, Israel’s intensive bombings, civilian casualties, and obstruction of humanitarian aid are clear violations of the provisions of the Geneva Convention.

At the same time, Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israeli cities targeting civilians also breach international legal norms and should be considered acts of terror.

Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that neither Israel nor Hamas currently appears inclined toward peace or compromise. Both sides prioritize their military and political interests, putting thousands of innocent lives at risk.

The political analyst also drew attention to other developments in the region. The Houthis’ blockade of Israeli ports in the Red Sea and Iran’s increasing influence in the region have further complicated the situation.

Ahmad Shahidov concluded with a call to the international community to approach the issue objectively, not selectively, and to ensure that both Israel and Hamas comply with international and humanitarian law norms.
