Tensions are once again rising in the South Caucasus. Members of the armed terrorist group “Yerkrapa” from Armenia have recently been deployed to the provisional border line with Azerbaijan. According to reports, the vehicles transporting the militants belong to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, while separatist flags are being hoisted in frontline positions — posing a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.
Commenting on the issue to ARB24 Television, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov assessed the developments as a clear indication that Armenia is preparing for new military provocations.
“The deployment of the Yerkrapa armed group to the border is a blatant sign of Armenia’s intention to spark a new war in the region. If any provocation is carried out by these terrorist groups along the border, this issue will not be limited to a border incident. Any provocation by Yerkrapa militants will jeopardize Armenia’s sovereignty, and the country’s very existence may come into question”, said Dr. Ahmad Shahidov.
The political analyst also emphasized that through such dangerous moves, the Armenian leadership is putting both its own population and the region at risk of a new war.
