The possibility of an Israeli attack on Iran and the risks for the South Caucasus — Dr. Ahmad Shahidov commented on ARB24 Television

In recent days, the increasing military and political tension between Israel and Iran has become one of the main topics on the global agenda. Iran’s acceleration of its nuclear program and the enrichment of uranium to high levels are regarded by Israel as a serious threat. Official Tel Aviv no longer hides its preparations for potential preemptive strikes. This situation poses not only a local confrontation risk between the two countries but also a large-scale threat to the entire Middle East and surrounding regions. In particular, the military presence of the United States in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East, as well as the mobilization of Iran-backed groups in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, makes regional escalation inevitable.

Speaking on the ARB24 television program “What is happening?” about the regional effects of the issue, political commentator Dr. Ahmad Shahidov stated that the Israel-Iran confrontation could also affect the security of the South Caucasus. According to him, in a possible war scenario, the risk of tensions in border areas and threats to energy and transportation corridors would increase.

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that in such a situation, Azerbaijan should maintain a balanced position and consider both humanitarian and economic risks.
