“Israel and the US have achieved their strategic goals against Iran” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov speaks to Baku TV from Washington DC

The 12-day Israel-Iran conflict in the Middle East has ended with a ceasefire. This confrontation, closely watched by regional and global audiences, holds significant importance for both energy security and international relations. Regarding the outcomes of the war and the durability of the agreement between the parties, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov gave a live interview to Baku TV from Washington DC.

Dr. Shahidov stated that Israel and the US have reached their long-sought strategic objective. Iran’s nuclear activities have been neutralized, and the country no longer has the potential to develop nuclear weapons in the next 50 years. This was one of the main demands of both Israel and the US in the region.

He added that continuing military operations against Iran at this stage could pose serious risks. These risks would have severe consequences not only for the region but also for the global energy market and security. For this reason, the ceasefire became an acceptable option for both sides.

However, Dr. Shahidov emphasized that the ceasefire remains very fragile and sensitive. He noted that Iran’s potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a new and broader war in the region. He stressed the importance of strengthening mutual trust and control mechanisms between the parties.

The political analyst concluded that the upcoming weeks will determine the fate of the region, and the sustainability of the ceasefire will become clear during this period.
