Human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov delivers a message on July 4th — U.S. Independence Day


Today, on July 4th, human rights defender and international human rights activist Dr. Ahmad Shahidov delivered a video message from Washington, D.C., congratulating the people of the United States on Independence Day and calling on the international community to defend peace and human rights.

In his address, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that the principles proclaimed by the United States 248 years ago — declaring that “all men are created equal and are endowed with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” — remain of great importance to the entire world today.

“As someone coming from a conflict region like the South Caucasus, I know very well how precious peace is. I sincerely hope that one day, children everywhere will grow up in safety, mothers will no longer shed tears for their sons, and young people will have the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality,” he stated.

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov further underlined that July 4th is not only significant for the United States but also for all of humanity that values freedom, equality, and human dignity. He called on the international community to unite in defense of peace, understanding, and human rights.

At the end of his message, he once again congratulated the American people and expressed his hope for peace and hope to prevail across the world.
