“Azerbaijan is ready to support Syria’s reconstruction” — Dr. Ahmad Shahidov spoke to Egypt’s Al Qahera channel from Washington DC


Yesterday, the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku. During the meetings, President Ilham Aliyev and Ahmad Al-Sharaa discussed prospects for expanding economic, energy, and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. The talks focused on the export of Azerbaijani gas to Syria via Turkey, post-war reconstruction efforts, and peace initiatives in the Middle East.

Commenting on this visit in an interview with Egypt’s reputable Al Qahera television channel from Washington, international affairs expert Dr. Ahmad Shahidov assessed the regional significance of the visit and Azerbaijan’s role in this process. In the interview, Dr. Shahidov emphasized that Azerbaijan has always supported Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and is ready to actively contribute to the country’s reconstruction and economic development in the post-war period.

Dr. Ahmad Shahidov underlined that energy and diplomatic cooperation between Baku and Damascus could open new opportunities for the region. He noted that the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Syria and the implementation of humanitarian projects would help promote peace and stability in the Middle East.

The expert also pointed out that Azerbaijan’s experience in post-war reconstruction and redevelopment in Karabakh could be applied in Syria, highlighting the promising prospects for bilateral cooperation in this area.
