Azerbaijan’s energy and peace mission on Europe’s agenda – Ahmad Shahidov commented on the Copenhagen summit on ARB24 Television

The seventh summit of the European Political Community is being held in Copenhagen. The meeting addresses Europe’s security agenda, continued support for Ukraine, Russia’s growing provocations, hybrid warfare methods, as well as issues of energy and economic security. This time, European leaders are not limiting themselves to the battlefield situation, but focusing on the continent’s overall stability and the future security architecture. In particular, Russia’s disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, and drone provocations in Europe are causing serious concern. The participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the summit attracts special attention. Azerbaijan plays a key role as a reliable partner in Europe’s energy security and as a driving force for peace in the South Caucasus.

Speaking as a guest on ARB24 TV’s “Business Morning” program, political analyst Ahmad Shahidov noted that the Copenhagen meeting would play a decisive role in shaping Europe’s future geopolitical order: “Support for Ukraine is at the forefront of this summit. But what is striking is that European leaders now view security not only from a military perspective, but also in economic, energy, and informational dimensions. This marks the emergence of a new European security model.”

Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s participation demonstrates Azerbaijan’s growing role in Europe: “Azerbaijan is an important partner for Europe both in the energy field and in ensuring regional stability. The post-Karabakh peace process and new energy projects further strengthen Azerbaijan’s strategic importance.”

The political analyst also underlined that Russia’s hybrid warfare methods in Europe – cyberattacks, information manipulation, and energy pressure – are regarded as serious threats by European leaders: “European states now understand that stability is not measured only by border defense. The information sphere, economic security, and energy independence are also integral parts of security.”

According to him, this summit further consolidates Azerbaijan’s position on international platforms and opens up new opportunities for Baku.
