A new diplomatic stage is emerging in the South Caucasus. The US government plans to establish Strategic Working Groups with both Azerbaijan and Armenia by the end of the year. This initiative is considered an important step toward creating parallel cooperation mechanisms with the two countries and ensuring lasting regional stability. Washington’s growing activity demonstrates America’s commitment to long-term peace and economic integration in the South Caucasus.
Speaking to ARB24 Television, political analyst Ahmad Shahidov said that the establishment of the US-Azerbaijan and US-Armenia Strategic Working Groups lays the foundation for a balanced model of regional cooperation. According to him, this initiative will contribute not only to the ongoing peace talks between Baku and Yerevan but also to strengthening security and deepening economic ties. Shahidov emphasized that despite internal tensions between the Armenian government and the Church, Prime Minister Pashinyan continues to pursue the US-mediated peace process, while Azerbaijan’s constructive position supports this progress.
The expert noted that the region’s future depends on the successful implementation of these strategic partnerships. In his view, the US’s diplomatic engagement and Azerbaijan’s stability-oriented policy are shaping a new framework for cooperation in the South Caucasus. Shahidov added that if Armenia sincerely joins this integration process, long-term peace and development in the region can become a reality.
