Possible U.S. military intervention in Venezuela on the agenda – Ahmad Shahidov speaks to ARB24 Television

Rising sanctions, instability in global energy markets and increased military activity in the Caribbean have pushed U.S.–Venezuela relations into a new and tense phase. Washington’s expanded restrictions on PDVSA and the ongoing legal process surrounding the “Citgo” assets have brought the issue to the forefront of international attention.

Speaking to ARB24 Television, political analyst Ahmad Shahidov stated that the new U.S. tariffs and pressure mechanisms are reshaping the regional balance: “This is no longer just a matter between Caracas and Washington. The scope of sanctions is expanding, creating risks for other countries engaged in economic cooperation with Venezuela. The ‘Citgo’ case delivers a serious blow to Caracas’s economic position and further fuels domestic political tensions,” he said.

Ahmad Shahidov also highlighted that mass migration from Venezuela continues to deepen the crisis: “More than 7.9 million people have already left the country. The socio-economic collapse and the rise in deportation flights increase the likelihood of a new migration wave. If the situation spirals out of control, the Caribbean could turn into a new zone of geopolitical confrontation,” he added.
