What Is Donald Trump’s hardline domestic and foreign policy aimed at? – Ahmad Shahidov speaks to ARB24 Television

The economic, political and migration agenda pursued by U.S. President Donald Trump in his second term, along with his hardline Middle East and Latin America strategy, has become one of the key topics in the international arena. Rising tariffs, the tightening of asylum procedures, a more aggressive stance toward Venezuela and Iran, as well as growing political polarization within the United States, are among the developments closely monitored by experts. These shifts are viewed as factors reshaping the balance of power both domestically and globally.

In his interview with ARB24 Television, political analyst Ahmad Shahidov stated that Trump’s current approach represents a harsher and more aggressive version of the “America First” doctrine: “Sharp increases in tariffs put pressure on the real economy and consumer markets, while the effective closure of the southern border deepens humanitarian and political debates inside the country. In foreign policy, prioritizing the use of force in the Middle East and Venezuela introduces new risks to regional stability.”

According to Ahmad Shahidov, American society displays differing attitudes toward these policies: “While Republican voters support this hardline course, urban communities, young people and independent voters are increasingly concerned about inflation, rising living costs, social tensions and pressure on institutions. The United States today is experiencing two sharply contrasting political realities, and every step taken by the Trump administration further amplifies this divergence.”
