U.S. Vice President James Vance’s visit to the South Caucasus will accelerate the peace process in the region – Ahmad Shahidov commented to ARB24 Television

U.S. Vice President James Vance’s visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan, Washington’s growing diplomatic engagement in the South Caucasus, and the future prospects of Azerbaijan–Armenia relations have become key political topics in recent days. The meetings held during the visit and the messages delivered are being widely analyzed in the context of the regional peace process, security architecture, and the interests of major powers.

The issue was also discussed on ARB24 television. Political commentator Ahmad Shahidov stated that U.S.–Azerbaijan relations have entered a new phase. According to him, energy security, transport and communication projects, and regional stability are among the main reasons why Washington attaches special importance to cooperation with Baku. “Azerbaijan is now a key actor in the region, and the United States is taking the new realities into account,” he said.

Ahmad Shahidov also emphasized that one of the main priorities of U.S. policy in the South Caucasus is achieving lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In his view, ensuring stability in the region serves the interests of both regional states and global powers, and the current diplomatic activity may provide additional momentum toward the signing of a peace agreement.
