4th year of the Ukraine-Russia war: possibilities for peace or ceasefire discussed on REAL Television

The Ukraine-Russia war, which began on February 24, 2022, has now entered its fourth year. This date marks a new phase of the conflict that has reshaped the security architecture of the region and Europe as a whole. REAL Television hosted a live discussion analyzing the current stage of the war, developments on the front lines, and the prospects for ongoing peace talks. The program’s guests were political analyst Zaur İbrahimli and human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov.

Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that this war, ongoing for four years, is no longer just an armed conflict between two states but a serious test for the international legal system and global security mechanisms. According to him, targeting civilians, destroying cities, and occupying territories constitute clear violations of international conventions, and these issues must be legally addressed in any future political agreements.

Ahmad Shahidov also noted that reaching the fourth year of the war highlights the scale of the humanitarian crisis even more clearly. Millions of people have become refugees, and thousands of civilians have lost their lives. He argued that lasting and just peace can only be achieved based on the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the international community must not retreat from these principles. True stability is possible only when political will and legal accountability mechanisms function together.
