Humanitarian aid sent from Azerbaijan to Iran has been dispatched through the “Astara” state border checkpoint. The aid, delivered to the border by vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, includes nearly 30 tons of food supplies. The shipment contains 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water, nearly 600 kilograms of tea, as well as close to 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies. The humanitarian assistance was organized following a phone conversation held on March 8 between the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, aimed at supporting the current needs of the neighboring and friendly Iranian people.
Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov stated during his appearance on REAL TV that Azerbaijan’s step is a clear message to radical and anti-Azerbaijani circles in Iran: “Azerbaijan has always demonstrated that it stands for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The baseless accusations voiced against Azerbaijan in recent times have once again proven to be unfounded.”
Ahmad Shahidov also emphasized that Azerbaijan has never allowed and will never allow its territory to be used for any operations against Iran: “Despite this, we witnessed an incident where four drones launched from Iran fell in the Nakhchivan region. Although the Iranian side tried to deny the incident, the fact remains that the drones were launched from Iranian territory. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan demonstrated a humanitarian approach and sent assistance to Iran. We hope that radical circles in Iran will properly evaluate this gesture from Baku.”
