It is reported that Donald Trump plans to visit China on March 31 – April 2, 2026. During the visit, the main meeting is expected to take place in Beijing with Xi Jinping. The trip is expected to last about three days and will reportedly be limited to Beijing. Analysts say the meeting is important for stabilizing relations between the world’s two largest economies and for discussing key trade issues. However, expectations for major political breakthroughs remain relatively low.
Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 Television that the agenda of the meeting may include not only economic issues but also international security matters: “The ongoing war in Iran and the growing tensions in the region are also affecting US-China relations. China is currently taking a relatively passive role in the war, but its energy and economic ties with Iran are significant for Beijing.”
Ahmad Shahidov noted that China is one of the main buyers of Iranian oil and therefore the ongoing conflict in the region does not align with Beijing’s economic interests: “In this context, the war in Iran could also become one of the topics discussed during the upcoming talks between Washington and Beijing. Other geopolitical developments in the region may also appear on the agenda of the US-China dialogue.”
