The solution to the Iran crisis depends on an agreement between the U.S. and China – Ahmad Shahidov spoke on ARB24 Television

Rising tensions around Iran in the Middle East, security risks in the Strait of Hormuz, and the ongoing crisis in U.S.-Iran relations continue to dominate the international agenda. In recent days, the Iran issue was also among the key topics discussed during the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The issue was discussed on ARB24 Television’s daily program.

Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov stated that the crisis surrounding Iran is no longer just a confrontation between Tehran and Washington, but has also turned into a geopolitical issue between the United States and China: “The current picture shows that the solution to the Iran issue directly depends on an agreement between the U.S. and China. China is one of the main pillars of Iran’s economy, and without a change in Beijing’s position, it is difficult to exert serious pressure on Tehran. The Trump administration understands this very well, which is why the Iran issue has become one of the central topics in negotiations with China.”

According to Ahmad Shahidov, the situation in the region has entered an extremely dangerous phase, and a new confrontation could erupt around the Strait of Hormuz at any moment: “The conditions put forward by the United States and Iran contradict each other, and there is currently no real prospect for a direct agreement between the two sides. Therefore, China may play the key role in this process. If Washington and Beijing fail to reach a common position, any incident in the Strait of Hormuz could trigger large-scale military operations and lead to a new regional war.”
