President Ilham Aliyev’s messages at WUF13 carry global significance – Ahmad Shahidov spoke on REAL Television


WUF13 – the World Urban Forum held in Baku has become the center of international attention. Organized by UN-Habitat, the event focuses on urban planning, sustainable development, climate change, and modern urbanization issues. Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov spoke on REAL TV about the importance of the forum for Azerbaijan.

Ahmad Shahidov stated that hosting WUF13 demonstrates Azerbaijan’s growing international reputation and diplomatic capabilities: “Today, Baku has become not only a regional center but also one of the key dialogue platforms across Eurasia. Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of COP29, the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, and other major international events reflects the confidence of the international community in our country. WUF13 is another continuation of this trust.”

The human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov emphasized the importance of the messages delivered by President Ilham Aliyev during the forum: “In his speech, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s policy of multiculturalism, dialogue, and sustainable development. In particular, the ‘smart city’ and ‘smart village’ projects implemented in the liberated territories are attracting global attention. Azerbaijan is presenting a modern and green urbanization model in the post-conflict period.”

According to Ahmad Shahidov, the forum not only strengthens Azerbaijan’s soft power potential but also serves as an important platform to showcase the country’s achievements in urban planning and infrastructure development to the international community.
