The renewed military escalation between the United States and Iran in recent days has once again placed the Middle East at the center of international attention. Although the exchange of military operations between the two sides has raised concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict, ongoing diplomatic contacts continue to shape differing assessments of how the crisis may develop.
Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov said in an interview with ARB24 TV that the current confrontation between the United States and Iran is unlikely to turn into a prolonged war. According to Ahmad Shahidov, the recent developments are primarily an attempt by both sides to increase pressure on each other at the negotiating table.
Ahmad Shahidov noted that the resumption of U.S. military operations is part of Washington’s broader pressure policy toward Iran. In his view, these actions are intended more as a political message than as the beginning of a major military escalation.
The political analyst also stressed that the Israel factor plays a significant role in the current situation. According to Ahmad Shahidov, Israel’s security concerns have a direct impact on the peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran. He added that the prospects for reaching a peace agreement between the United States and Iran have been steadily diminishing in light of the latest developments.
