Radicalism, terror and human rights to be discussed at the European Parliament

European Parliament’s hearing on “Religion, Security and Human Rights” has been conducted in Brussels, Belgium on December 10. The meeting which attended by officials, religious leaders, human rights advocates and MPs featured discussions on recent developments worldwide, religious confrontations, intolerance, discrimination ad radicalism tendencies.

The reports were read out by Dr. Heiner Bielefeldt, U.N. Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Prof. Cole Durham, Director of the International Center on Law and Religion Studies, Dr. Kishan Manocha, Senior Advisor of the OSCE/ODHIR and other high ranked officials.

Attending the meeting Ahmad Shahidov, Head of Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) touched upon the issues of multiculturalism tradition of Azerbaijan, tolerance. He went on underscoring recent religious radicalism by adding that Azerbaijan is a part of international coalition against terrorism and radicalism.
