A new stage is taking shape in Azerbaijan-Armenia relations – Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 Television

The visit of the delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Armenia and the latest meeting of the State Commission on border delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia indicate that the peace process in the region is entering a new phase. Political analyst Ahmad Shahidov spoke on ARB24 Television, evaluating the current state of relations between the two countries and future expectations.

Ahmad Shahidov stated that this visit and the mutual diplomatic contacts show that the process has moved beyond the stage of political statements: “Today, concrete mechanisms are being developed regarding border delimitation, the formation of a legal framework, and the opening of future communication lines. Azerbaijan maintains its principled position on this issue and clearly demonstrates that lasting peace can only be built on real and practical steps.”

According to the political analyst, the elections to be held in Armenia in June may also directly affect this process: “Nikol Pashinyan’s government will try to demonstrate the peace agenda more actively before the elections. In this regard, certain progress is possible in delimitation, transport routes, and regional cooperation. Armenia is now forced to accept the new realities of the region, and these realities form the foundation of long-term stability.”
